How To Split CSV Into Multiple Files
- Sign up - Sign up for a Gigasheet account with your business email. Note: you'll need to have a Gigasheet Premium subscription to use this feature.
- Upload - Upload and open your big .csv (or other supported file). You can zip large CSV files to save time. After uploading, Gigasheet will automatically decompress and process your file. Next click the file name in your Library to open it in your browser.
- Split - Once open, head to File > Download > Split To Multiple CSVs. Optionally use Filters to select the rows you'd like in your export. To filter on row count, filter the column name "#", or provide other criteria to select the rows of your choosing. Next, click File > Download > CSV to build a zip of the slice of your data. Optionally you can share the file online in Gigasheet.

- First create an account, then simply upload your CSV (comma separated values) file. (Note: to use file splitting you'll need Gigasheet Premium.) Next, browse for the CSV file from your local machine, or connect to popular cloud storage services like Google Drive, AWS S3, OneDrive, Dropbox, and more. If you have multiple or large CSV files you can zip and upload the group. Gigasheet will automatically decompress your zip, extract the contents and make it available for easy browsing online.
- Once your comma separated value file has uploaded (and unzipped if necessary), you'll see Gigasheet process and parse the file. For exceptionally large files you may see a loading bar while the data extraction completes. Gigasheet can open large csv files - up to 250GB, and 1 billion rows in a single spreadsheet!
- After the file is extracted and the tabular data parsed, you'll see your file appear in your Library. You'll also see the resulting number of rows and columns extracted from the CSV file. Simply click the name of the file to browse it in a tabular spreadsheet.
- Once your CSV file is open for viewing in Gigasheet you can page through the rows of results. You can also use Filters to segment the data into the views your want to export. Premium users can also use a built-in split file tool to split into a specified number of files, or split by a count of rows.
- When you have a view of the CSV you want to download, simply click File > Download > CSV. Once the export is complete, click on the newly created zipped CSV file will appear in your Library. Simply click the export to download the converted file to your local machine.
